If you make small changes to what you eat you have a better chance of losing weight, for example instead of using the full milk in your cereal, change to semi-skimmed. See how easy that change will be? How much weight will you lose with that? Not a huge amount, but it's a start. Do it with other foods and see the weight you start losing.

When you are dieting you will notice that you can't eat any of your favourite foods and soon your body will start to rebel against this decision and you will start getting cravings for the food you miss and we all know how irresistible cravings can be at times and that can ruin a diet. The best healthy option is to make small changes instead of dieting. When you diet you are causing immediate change, but if you make small effective changes you can manage to lose the same amount of weight. For example when you eat breakfast change your milk from full milk to semi-skimmed milk. This small change will result in an intake of less calories (it's only breakfast and you are already losing weight).

Weight Loss Tip 3 - Exercise
It may seem obvious, but a lot of people don't exercise when they need to lose weight. Most of the time it is because of work or they may be injured, have to look after their children and so on. By not exercising, you are just storing the fat. A lot of people take weight loss pills instead of exercising as the pills only take 5 seconds to consume (please note that weight loss pills are bad for your health, look at the resource box for more information).When you exercise it doesn't have to be one hour at the gym (it would have a bigger effect but it is not important), it could be 5-10 minutes of vigorous activity before you go to bed or whenever you have spare time. When exercising you want to work the whole body, not just the arms, legs or stomach. You want to work the whole body as it increases the chances of you losing more weight and building more muscle weight. Some good exercises for the whole body are chin ups, press-ups, sit-ups, crunches, squats and wall sits. These are body weight exercises which can be effective when trying to lose weight or gain muscle mass.

Tip 2 - Know Your Limits
Many people have fallen into the trap of trying to do more exercise than they can actually do. This can lead to damaged muscle fibres or pulling a muscle. When exercising you want to do as many of one exercise as you think you can do and the half it and then put it into sets. By putting the exercise into sets you reduce risk of injury and you also work the body more through this process.

Tip 3 - Keep It Intense
In other words keep moving. Once you have finished an exercise move onto the next one, if you stop your metabolism starts to slow down which means your body is burning less calories. You want to move onto the next exercise as quick as possible to keep your metabolism high and to keep your body working. If you have to stop to take water then do it because water keeps you metabolism high but don't sit down, while drinking water stretch out to keep your body limber and to loosen your joints up.

The final reason is how good you will look. When you wake up in the morning and see yourself in the mirror do you like what you see? Do you imagine yourself with less fat? There are many ways to see if you are over weight, under weight, obese or normal. There are products that you can buy, there are body fat measurements you can take online but the most popular and best to use is a BMI indicator (Body Mass Index) which doesn't calculate your fat percentage but it tells you if you are over weight, under weight, obese or normal. In this article I will explain to you what BMI is, how to calculate it and also give you 3 methods you can use to decrease it and lose weight.

What Is BMI and How Is It Calculated?
BMI is Body Mass Index. This is a method doctors started using in the 1950's to calculate how obese or thin a person was at that time and that method is now being used to calculate how obese or thin someone is to this day. As mentioned above in the introduction, BMI doesn't calculate the fat percentage but it calculates whether you are over weight, under weight, obese or at a normal weight for your age. To calculate your BMI you need to take your weight in kilograms and divide it by your height in metres. Once you have come up with your result, find a table for your age range/height range that will tell you where your BMI falls (search BMI on Wikipedia, they have a nice graph).

How To Reduce Your BMI - Method 1
Eat less calories. Calories are the main cause that your BMI increases. Calories that aren't burnt are stored in the body as fat and this builds up over time unless you burn off the calories. You can either do one of two things (or both if you want to) you can cut down on the calories you are eating now. This means cutting down on those cakes and biscuits. The other option you have is exercise. Exercising is one of the best ways to burn calories as calories are used as energy throughout intense exercise.

How To Reduce Your BMI - Method 2
Get more fibre into yourself. Fibre is a miracle source of food. It is mainly found in wholegrain foods like cereals, breads etc. The reason fibre is so good is that is speeds up digestion which means that the food you eat is easier to burn off as it is being processed into fat quicker. If you are on a diet you should know that fibre should be one of the foods you should include in any food plan/ diet/ programme when you start it.

How To Reduce Your BMI - Method 3
Make small changes to what you eat. Don't listen to people who say stop eating this and that that is not the way to stop eating a certain type of food. What you want to do is stray of a food to a healthier option. For example instead of using white bread, use wholegrain bread, it is healthier and it contains more wholegrain (fibre) too. Another example would be to use low fat dairy products (instead of whole milk use semi skimmed).

Weight loss has been increasing throughout the years due to an increase in obesity (steadily becoming the first killer in America with the first being smoking). Have you ever heard the saying "Whatever you eat is stored as fat unless you burn it off"? Take a guess at how you burn it off...exercise! As mentioned before exercise burns calories by increasing your metabolism (the process of burning stored fat to use it as energy) and these calories are the fat you are storing up, but that not the only good thing about exercising it also builds muscle mass. So by exercising you look a lot muscular.

Diet Tip 2 - Eat small and frequent meals
Most diets ask you to eat probably three meals a day that are low in a specific food type. These diets are called crash diets because you are cutting down on everything you would normally eat immediately. When going through a crash diet you will notice that you start to get cravings for foods, this is because the body doesn't like the immediate change and starts to rebel against it. If you still don't feed your body the food it wants it goes into survival mode where it stores your fat and slows down your metabolism to stop it from burning more fat and this makes it harder to lose weight. This is why you want to find a diet that lets you have small and frequent meals or snacks in between your main meals so that your metabolism stays high and is easier for you to lose more weight.

Diet Tip 3 - Drink Water
Water is great isn't it? Not only is it an important factor in weight loss, but it is also helps lose weight. This is because drinking water increases your metabolism as it gives your kidneys a boost (your kidneys aid your liver for metabolism). Drinking water is also important whilst exercising because it keeps you hydrated and it helps lose even more weight because as mentioned before it increases metabolism, so you will lose more weight because of a boost from your metabolism. If you want good results for weight loss from drinking weight loss you want to drink 8 glasses a day which isn't as hard as it seems. You have about 14 hours in your day (taking a guess)? You can easily fit 8 glasses of water into that.

There you go now go and look for a weight loss that contains those three points. There will be quite a few diets that won't include those points which you should avoid as they will make it harder losing weight than the diets that include those three points.

• They don't consume time. If you work 9-5 you will know that going to the gym or exercising on a regular period can be a problem. Some days you don't have time to go to the gym and you end up storing the calories instead of burning them. With weight loss pills, they don't take as much time as going to the gym do they? It takes about 5 seconds to have one.
• You can't injure yourself. Going to the gym or doing any exercise can have a risk of an injury and that injury would put you out of exercise, which means you will start putting on weight while recovering. With weight loss pills injury risk is at a minimal, you can't get hurt putting on in your mouth (unless you bite your tongue, but I'm sure that you could continue from that injury).
So far the weight loss pills look like they are the option right? Well don't make up your mind yet, it's time for the disadvantages.

Disadvantages

• They stimulate water loss. This means for every pill you take you lose a certain amount of water. This is not advisable as you will start getting dehydrated and also with the water loss, you will lose potassium which will start making you feel weak.
• They help you lose your appetite. By not eating as much you risk having health problems and soon your muscles will start feeling weaker and you will have a higher blood pressure.
• You can become addicted. Having pill after pill can get you addicted. This can cause severe health problems including diarrhea and insomnia

Almost every weight loss pill contains the same ingredients and they all have the same disadvantages with them. Weight loss pills are a quick fix for weight loss, but they are not the healthiest way to go about it.

They can cause a loss of appetite and an increase in metabolism. By making you eat less and increasing your metabolism the body is burning fat into energy. This may sound good but a loss of appetite can cause high blood pressure and can also cause a weakness in the muscles. By continuing to consume weight loss pills you could be in for long term health problems like diarrhoea.

Reason 3
Long term side effects can be caused if the weight loss pills are regularly consumed. By consuming the pills you can end up having a potassium deficiency as that too is lost with the water you lose. The other side effects to the pills are that they can cause insomnia, restlessness and anxiety. These side effects can last for some time if you consume the pills regularly.

As you can see these 3 reasons for using weight loss pills argue that you should not use them as they can cause some bad side effects to your body. They may be the easy way out of losing weight instead of exercising at the gym but are they worth having health problems for? You should try regular exercising instead of these health risking pills.

Two thirds of the planet is covered in water. Sounds like a useless fact doesn't it? Well your wrong, water is one of the vital things we need to survive as it keeps us hydrated. When you exercises and start to sweat you are losing water which is why you are meant to drink water after you exercise or you will become dehydrated. Water helps weight loss by increasing the body's metabolism. Metabolism is the process of burning fat that is carried out by the liver. The liver contains stored fat and it converts it into energy.
