Drinking Water and Weight Loss - Is There a Connection?

Water has been around forever. It supplies us with the minerals we need to live and without it we cannot survive for long. Over the past few years there have been arguments on the concept that the water that covers two thirds of the planet can actually help people lose weight. It seems pretty outstanding doesn't it? That is what I am going to go through in this article, if water does actually help you lose weight and how it does it.

The answer is yes, water does help the body shift those pounds. Water increases something called metabolism. This is the process of converting fat into energy which is carried out by the liver. This is a very hard job which is why the liver is aided by the kidneys the only problem is that the kidneys need a good supply of water to keep metabolism rates high (around 8 glasses a day). If you don't drink enough water your kidneys slow down which means that your metabolism does as well and a slow metabolism means that you will lose weight slower.

Water doesn't just stop there. The miracle drink can also improve your muscle structure. That's right. Drinking water can make you look more toned up and it also makes it easy for your muscles to contract, this enables you to do more work in a workout. In addition to this water cleanses the skin out so you have fewer impurities, spots and what not.

The goal you want to reach is drinking 8 glasses of water (if you live in hotter countries or if you exercise regularly you want to drink more than this). As hard as it seems 8 glasses a day is easy. One when you wake, one before you sleep (that's two), one after you've eaten breakfast, one when just before you leave (four), one when you come back, one when you are leaving for the gym (six), one during your workout and one when you finished working out (eight glasses).

When you start drinking 8 glasses a day you will notice that you need to go to the toilet more often. This is because when you drank less water, your body stored a lot of water as you weren't giving it enough water, but now that you are drinking 8 glasses a day your body needs to release the water it has been storing as it knows it is getting a fresh supply of water.

So there we have it. Water does help lose weight and if you are thinking about starting a weight loss diet then I suggest that you drink plenty of water to not only keep you hydrated but also to increase your metabolism. By increasing this you defiantly will lose weight. Make sure you drink your water not only to lose weight, but to look a lot better as well.
